Mundanity and Mysticism: Drawing Out the Self

Curated by: Grace Hager

Zand Head Gallery at MECA&D

Portland, Maine

Feb. - Mar. 7, 2015

The familiarity of the portrait becomes the platform for exploration; freeing the artist to question reality, state of mind, images of self, or build narrative, fantasy, and characters. A portrait is at once incredibly personal as well as universal; drawing upon the primal relationship between each individual, the internal self, and the exterior world.
